About This Project

“The world is vast, humanity is small—and in essence, always in search of light, with the aim of improving the quality of life.”

When I resumed painting in mid-2015, after nearly 47 years, I immediately felt the need to express the idea that human beings are, in truth, only small creatures in this vast world—insignificant within a universe filled with energies and forces. I was reminded of the words Salvador Dalí once personally told me in 1973: that he considered dimensions to be of great importance.

In several of my paintings, I therefore depicted a distant horizon, approached by a long path with figures making their way along it.

In this painting, the goal at the end of that journey seems to be something resembling an oasis. In others, the destination appears to be light itself—or a radiant, energetic source of illumination.
