“Land and Sky Are Inextricably Connected”

This is another painting from my early period in 2015, when I felt the need to depict yet another expansive landscape: a village with white houses, and people walking toward it. At the time, I had not yet begun using the dotting technique, where I blend small clumps of paint with a palette knife. In this painting, I even painted with brushes instead of knives—a rare exception for me.

I cannot remember why I painted the sky and the land in the same colors. Honestly, it seemed rather illogical and, at the time, a bit dull. I did separate them with a streak of lighter sky along the horizon, but it almost appears as if laziness prevented me from cleaning my brushes between strokes, allowing the colors of the land to merge into the sky.

Initially, there was no particularly deep story behind this otherwise pleasant and friendly painting. However, more recently, I’ve come to realize that the unity of land and sky may itself be a message from the E-cloud—a reminder to treat both land and the corresponding air with care. This gives the painting a new significance: another subtle warning inspired by the realities of climate change. For me, it has gained a far greater meaning and beauty than I initially perceived.
